JBird Classic Handicap Scramble Format Explained
The goal of the ABCD Handicap Scramble is to create 30 teams that are within one shot of each other by total team handicap. No strokes will be given during the event, but any ties will be decided by a team’s total handicap. All tiebreakers will go to the team with the higher handicap total.
TLine up all 120 players from best to worst handicap and split into 4 groups of 30 players to achieve your A-B-C-D flights
- Max lowest handicap is +3.0
- Max highest handicap is 15.0 (anyone higher than a 15.0 will be adjusted
back to a 15.0. Using too high of a handicap throws off the 1-shot rule)
Total Team Handicap is determined at 35% of total handicaps, which are also weighted by flight:
- A Players = 40% of handicap
- B Players = 30% of handicap
- C Players = 20% of handicap
- D Players = 10% of handicap
EXAMPLE
Team 1
- A Player: +2.0 (40%) = -.80
- B Player: 3.3 (30%) = .99
- C Player: 7.7 (20%) = 1.5
- D Player: 13.1 (10%) = 1.31
Total =3.0×35% = 1.05 Team Handicap
Team 2
- A Player: +1.0 (40%) = -.40
- B Player: 4.2 (30%) = 1.26
- C Player: 8.6 (20%) = 1.72
- D Player: 15 (10%) = 1.5
Total = 4.08×35% = 1.428 Team Handicap
According to handicaps, Team 1 has better players, so in the event of a tie Team 2 would win the tiebreaker
Original scores -12
Team 1 Handicap Score = -13.05 vs Team 2 Handicap Score = -13.428
EVENT FORMAT: 1 PRO ($10,000 Professional Purse based on full field)
& 4 AMATEURS
