Benjamin Solum

My name is Benjamin Solum from Blaine, MN. I am currently a senior in the Center for Engineering, Mathematics and Science program at Blaine High School. My favorite subjects are math, science, and business. I am a part of the Future Business Leaders of America program and a member of the National Honor Society.

Golf has been a passion of mine for the last 8 years. I enjoy competing both individually and on a team. Jay was a big influence on my passion for the game of golf. He was my first golf instructor. In 2018, I was a member of Team Minnesota for the PGA Jr League and Jay was our coach. We competed at the National Championship and placed 2nd. I have been part of the Blaine High School Golf Team since 8th grade. I have received a Golf Letter 4 times, All-Conference Award 3 times, and have been the Team Captain for 2 years. This summer I had a Top 5 finish in an AJGA tournament and qualified for the US Junior Amateur Championship. My goal is to play college golf at the highest level.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as an Ambassador of the Jay B Norman Foundation. Jay had a passion for the development of youth golf. As my first golf coach, he taught me the technical skills that I have continued to improve upon. Not only did he teach me the technical lessons that I use on the course, but the lessons learned off the course I carry with me still today.
